his is not usually like me - I do not like bashing local businesses online, but I feel I legitimately need to warn others no to use Adirondack Bank for ANY Lending Products. I have been working "with" ADK Bank for 3 months, and finally closed on a mortgage last Friday. Adirondack Bank was slow, did not answer my questions or return calls for weeks, and messed up paperwork multiple times (in fact, they are waiting on ADDITIONAL signatures even after closing because they messed up what we needed to sign at closing...its like they've never closed on a mortgage before!). The entire process was the most confusing thing I've ever been through. I believe by the time everything was finished, I had filled out the EXACT same paperwork 4 times. Every time I would call, they told me I had to work with specific person, who was almost always "with a customer" or "on the phone" or "not in today". Furthermore, when I would leave a message for my point of contact, they would not bother to return my call for DAYS until I finally threatened to take my business elsewhere. The worst part of ADK Bank was they purposely misrepresented their Home Equity Product. I was surprised to find out after the fact that they would be CLOSING my only two credit cards which I have had since I was 18 in high school, which will certainly hurt my credit score I've worked so hard to build. I am a firm believer in learning from mistakes, and in this case I learned to ALWYAS hire an attorney when working with banks. I was told one thing verbally, and somewhere in the pages of legalese, it said something completely different. I guess I will not be signing the documents they are now requesting, which include the loan terms and tax advise waiver - until they agree to leave my credit cards open. At this point in time, as far as the law is concerned, they closed on a mortgage I did not agree to.
