Wonderful suprise of famous artists. Must see local artist display outside along the sidewalk. Great idea to have pedestrians vote on art.
For the tenth most populous town in New York State, this museum stands equally with MOMA or the DIA or even ARTIC. I love how it rambles between the Johnson designed main galleries and the mansion called "Fountain Elms". Maybe Fountain Elms has gone too far too protect its collection of furnishings, carpets and bedsteads and divans? I felt a little the intruder peering about rooms where I should enter just three feat. This was a place of refugee and relaxation for the family and wouldn't it be nice if visitors could tune in by relaxing also? Maybe some relaxing, attractive yet fungible sofas in the halls? Seriously, I felt as if I were carrying microbes that would cause the furnishings to collapse into dust.
Very busy lunch on the terrace, but the service was awesome, despite the lengthy wait for our sandwiches. Turkey sandwich was too thick to eat gracefully but was super tasty! Steak was awesome! A great way to spend a few hours & enjoy the beauty of MWPI!
The staff was not welcoming to teenagers who just wanted to experience the art, which is worth seeing.
Such a wonderful place. So many well known works. A must see!
